Spoke & Hammer was founded by Ryan Dennison and Mike Masto in 2015 and it remains just the two of us today. Many builders find themselves moving further and further from the job site, and from their clients, as they hire teams of people to allow them to take on more jobs. But we have chosen a different model for Spoke & Hammer. We started a home building company because we like to do just that – build homes! We work with our clients through every step of the process, from the introductory meeting all the way through move-in day. This means that we only take on a few projects each year, allowing us to pour everything we have into your home. If you build with us you can be confident that your project will get all the attention it deserves.
Pushing the Boundaries
We don’t like the status quo any more than you do. We started Spoke & Hammer because we saw so many builders in Charlotte building the same old things, in the same old ways. We wanted something different. From the beginning we have focused on building beautiful, modern, high performance homes. These homes look different, feel different, and perform different(ly) than conventionally built homes. High performance homes provide superior indoor air quality, maximize energy efficiency, and are built to the highest quality standards – just to name a few benefits. But don’t take our word for it. We have built and certified homes to meet the Energy Star, Indoor Air Plus, and Zero Energy Ready Home standards. We also have the distinction of being one of the only PHIUS Certified Builders in the Charlotte area, widely recognized as one of the most rigorous programs for energy conservation and quality-of-construction standards. Team-based Approach
We can’t do this on our own. To create something truly special, it takes a whole team. Our role as a builder is to ensure that all members of the team are heard, valued, and working in the same direction. Our team-based process is built on relationships, strong communication, transparency, and a commitment to excellence in all that we do. We have a deep respect for the knowledge and expertise of every member of the team, from the architect to the painter, and everyone in between. We are all in this together.
